A newer shrub rose originating from China (2023), Zi Rong (i.e., Purple Velvet) has big, cup-shaped, dark purple (or dark red) flowers, diameter 4-5 inches, repeated flowering for multiple seasons, medium fragrance, long flowering period 5-7 days, plant height 3-4 ft, compact and upright, with few thorns.
